My core training is both Person-Centred and Psychodynamic. The Person-Centred attention to developing relational depth enables the work to happen and working with attachment styles and defense mechanisms can help make sense of unconscious behaviours. In session we can explore when and why defenses were needed and if they are still helpful or causing pain? Becoming aware of the ways we move towards or away from our own feelings and other people can help us on the path to feeling more emotionally regulated and resilient.
I have undertaken continuous CPD over the last decade which informs my work including: CBT coaching for counsellors, Trauma informed therapy, Sandtray therapy, Samaritans training, ASIST suicide prevention, Mindfulness therapy (ACT) and Non-Violent-Communication (NVC).
